The founder

Why Karen built this

Karen Holmes is a registered tax practitioner and SAIT member who has spent years watching the same thing happen: commission earners walking into tax season with a bag of faded slips and no idea what they were allowed to claim.

The returns got filed. They were just never as good as they could have been — because the evidence was gone. Not because anyone did anything wrong, but because nobody had built a way to capture it as it happened.

Maxwild Hub is that way. An app that makes record-keeping take seconds instead of weekends, and a practitioner who turns those records into a return that stands up. The software is the easy half. The practitioner behind it is the point.

Karen’s credentials. SAIT member and registered SARS tax practitioner, PR-0123144. She works with individuals only — no companies, no payroll — which is why the practice knows this one situation properly instead of a little of everything.

Operations & client relations

The voice at the end of the Help button

Angela Muller came to Maxwild Hub from property law — years working alongside attorneys, and a long stretch in property management. That is where she became, in her own words, a stickler for detail, rules and compliance.

Rental law showed her how complicated compliance gets for property practitioners, private investors and ordinary property owners — sometimes it feels like you need a law degree just to get it right. Tax is the same problem in different clothing, which is exactly why this work made sense to her.

She runs everything around the practice: onboarding new clients, answering the questions, walking people through the app, protecting their information, and keeping the operational side steady so that Karen can concentrate on the returns.

And when you tap Help, Angela is who answers — guiding you through the app, checking with Karen on what you can and cannot claim, and making sure a legitimate claim is not left out simply because nobody thought to ask. “Helping people navigate the complicated stuff and protecting their interests isn’t just my job — it’s my passion.”

A small practice, on purpose. Karen prepares and files; Angela runs everything around it. You are not passed between consultants, and nobody reads your file for the first time on the day it is due.

How the practice works

Month to month, not once a year

The whole model rests on one idea: a return prepared from records kept through the year will always beat a return reconstructed in a panic.

  1. 01

    Through the year

You log income, expenses and logbook entries in the app as they happen. Your claimable position stays current.

  2. 02

    At submission

We verify the logged data against what is legally claimable, prepare the return and file it directly with SARS.

  3. 03

    Afterwards

We check the assessment, deal with any verification or query, and object where there is a case to make.

Who we serve

Why commission earners specifically

Because their tax position is genuinely different, and almost nothing is built for it.

  • 01Income that moves  Timing, estimates and cash-flow planning matter far more than they do on a salary.
  • 02Real, claimable costs  Travel, data, home office, professional fees — carried personally, and frequently unclaimed.
  • 03No payroll safety net  No employer running PAYE correctly on your behalf. It is entirely on you — or on your practitioner.
  • 04Individuals, not companies  Your own income, your own slips, your own return. That is the whole focus of this practice.
